We use the MIT Scratch platform to teach youngsters the basics of programming by using drag and drop codeblock coding. They build presentations and learn how to present using Scratch.
Youngsters use the same platform to learn game development where they create a game that is shared on the internet for all to play. They learn the steps and process of developing a game
Using the MIT Appinventor platform, youngsters look for challenges that they can solve with an app and develop the app and build the installation package.
Having learned the basics and being comfortable with coding, the next step on the journey is to have the youngters develop solutions through using the Python programming language, this is where they learn in depth programming and type their code out in full.
Codesmart was established as a solution to the missing and evident skills gap that is coding & robotics in schools. Youngster have limited exposure to the skill that will prepare them for jobs of the future regardless which career they choose to take up in later years. We don't only focus on coding, but use coding to teach life skills,(working together/self reliance/self confidence) and a different way of attending to 'bugs/problems' and problem solving. The skills learnt at Codesmart can be applied to schoolwork and life. Youngsters are taught to be persistent and to know that there is always a solution
Youngsters are swiftly made comfortable with the concept of coding by jumping right in and learning to create and work with code blocks to build interactive presentations, games and apps
Through the sessions, life skills are imparted where youngsters learn how to work with one another, how to deal with challenges in a similar manner as dealing with bugs in the code. A systematic approach that teaches responsibility and problem solving.
We take youngsters on tours and outings that expose them to art, social challenges and innovations that broadens their perspectives
